Women's Safety

WOMEN'S SAFETY

India a democratic country, a diverse country where we have all the rights where we worship the Goddess. But really the woman or girl of our country India safe? The answer is no as we all are living in 21st century but the crime rates against women is the major issue of our country till now...Women think twice before stepping out of their homes, especially at the night..This is unfortunately the sad reality of our society..

In fact, in 2018 reports by the Thomas Reuters Foundation ranked India as the most dangerous country for woman with regard to their safety due to a no.of mishaps, harrasment cases..Acid attack is becoming very normal in various parts of the country. India has a lot of strong acid attack survivors who are battling for their lives and trying to live their lives independently.

Crime does not stop here only, we have list of more crimes in our country such as rape, domestic violence, child marriage etc and the reason the women is not getting justice is somehow the society also..as in domestic violence cases, the wife stays in abusive relationship because of the fear of society and many parents of those victims themselves kill their daughter for their reputation....

Our society is still having the same psychology that dowry is tradition and girls father loses everything to pay it but but still after paying heavy amount of money the girls need to struggle at their husband house and goes through domestic abuse and finally  they took the step which I dont think so anyone wants to take i.e. suicide..

Rape is the fourth most common crime against woman in India after Child Marriage. According to 2019 Annual Report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 32033 Rape case were registered over the country on an average of 88 cases daily. The most brutal case of Nirbhaya in 2012 which grabbed International headlines too. Then in  January 2018 , 8 year old girl raped and murdered and now the recent cases of Hathras,Balrampur and many more. In this country still Patriarchy prevails. This Patriarchy has only created a second class status for women in India. I think that there is a mistake of our Indian families also.

Why girls are considered that they are not equal to boys and they cant do the work equal to them. Why there is limitation in everything? For ex- If a girl wore a short dress then why the question arises why you are wearing this? change it.Why the society comment on clothes? I think it's not the clothes its just the mentality nothing more that  of those sick and ill people to do this crime..

If someone thinks that the girl is wearing short dress and inviting the man to do this all with her..then what the girls of 4months,6 months, 3 years or more than that  what they are doing..they are also wearing the short dresses??did they also done the same mistake.. because they are so small so I don't think so they are wearing the dresses of their own choice..still they are raped..Here the matter is not about clothes but it's about mentality

What we all need to do??

We need to create awareness in the society..The discrimination should be stopped. The girls should also be allowed to do night outings. A boy's education is considered to mainstream but a girl education is neglected. The stereotype thinking in men to treat a woman they like need to be changed..Sometimes she is not allowed to speak for justice, she is being asked to be quiet due to the reputation of the family or need to avoid the teasing and all through which she goes and sometimes the police itself support the criminals and the political pressure also exists.

The time has come when girls and boys are no longer different and girls have proven themselves equal or even better than boys in many fields. Today the CEO of many International Companies are woman only such as Indra Nooyi and many more examples could be Kalpana Chawla ,the first Indian woman Astronaut and many more examples who had make us feel proud

Now we need to speak and if something wrong is going anywhere whether on road or any public place we need to raise our voice against the wrong and need to save the girls of our country. We can't progress until our women feel safe and independent. We need to teach the boys that girls have equal positions and must be respected and they should realise that they only give birth to them and are highly respectful, they go through the pain for 9 months and they harm to them only.

Education must be given everywhere specially sex education because - "Education is the most powerful weapon which we can use to change the world". The government and the society should take specific steps to protect women and we need to motivate the woman to do the innovative deeds in life and the society should treat every individual whether boy or girl equally without discrimination.

On 8 March , International Women's Day we all should pledge that no crimes for women would prevail in the country and give equality to girls also. The government has introduced many laws and there have been many organisations made for the protection and justice to girls and they are doing their part but now it's our turn to stop all the crimes and make our country "crime - free" where girl don't fear from stepping out from their homes even in late night too.#SafeIndia....
